All on device · No network needed

Snap it. Say it. Split it.

Scan the receipt, say who had what, and Tabber works out the rest — tax, tips and splits. No hassle. No network needed. No kidding.

Scanning needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Manual entry works on any iPhone running iOS 26.

The whole interaction

One sentence. Everyone's share.

Type it or say it. Names in the sentence become people, items are matched against the receipt, and anything split is divided automatically.

You say
“Sarah had the salmon, John and I split the calamari, Mike's getting his own tab.”
Sarah $56.54
  • Grilled Salmon$32.00
  • Caesar Salad$12.00
  • Tax & tip$12.54
John $28.27
  • Calamari · split 2 ways$8.00
  • Old Fashioned$14.00
  • Tax & tip$6.27
Mike $59.11
  • Ribeye$46.00
  • Tax & tip$13.11
You $10.28
  • Calamari · split 2 ways$8.00
  • Tax & tip$2.28
Nothing to memorise

“I” and “me” mean you. A name Tabber has seen before is matched to that person; a new name is simply remembered once the tab is saved. Anything the sentence didn't cover stays visible as unassigned, and a tap fixes it.

How it works

Receipt in, per-person totals out.

Six steps, and two of them are just checking Tabber got it right.

  1. Capture

Photograph the receipt, or pick one from Photos. Tabber reads the original capture rather than a compressed copy, so the small high-contrast print survives.

  2. Parse

The photo is straightened and cropped, then read as a table — so each item stays attached to its own price instead of being paired by position.

  3. Check

The printed subtotal and total are read off the page and used to audit the parse: the items have to add up. Where they don't, Tabber says so instead of guessing.

  4. Review

Every line, and the restaurant name, is editable. Anything the audit couldn't reconcile is flagged for a glance-check before you go on.

  5. Assign

Type or dictate who had what. Items land under each person as they're recognised. Anyone the sentence didn't name can be seated by hand.

  6. Share

Per-person totals with itemised breakdowns, sent through the standard share sheet. Finished tabs are saved to your home screen.

Privacy

Nothing leaves your iPhone.

This isn't a policy position, it's how the app is built. Tabber has no backend to send anything to. The receipt photo, the text read off it, the names at your table, and the sentence describing who had what are all processed on the device using Apple's on-device models.

0network calls

The core flow works in airplane mode.

0accounts or passwords

No sign-ins — there is nothing to create.

0trackers or ads

No analytics, no third-party SDKs.

0data collected

As declared by the developer in the App Store privacy manifest.

You hold the delete key

Receipt photos can be kept always, dropped 30 days after the meal, or never stored at all — in which case the receipt is read and immediately discarded. Settings shows exactly what the photos cost on disk and can delete every one of them while leaving your tabs, itemisations, and remembered people intact. One confirmed tap erases everything.

The math

Fair by construction.

A money app has to be right every time, so none of the arithmetic is left to a language model.

Prorated, never flat

Tax and tip follow the order

Both are split by each person's share of the subtotal. Someone who had a salad doesn't subsidise the steak — and the person who ordered the steak isn't overcharged either.

Integer cents

The column always adds up

Every amount is whole cents end to end. Rounding drift lands on the largest payer, so the per-person figures always sum to exactly the total printed on the receipt.

Deterministic

The model never does math

The AI reads the receipt and works out who had what. Every calculation after that is ordinary, testable code — the part that has to be exact is the part that never guesses.

Shared items

Split evenly or by portion

An appetiser three ways is one shared line spanning three people, not three duplicates. Uneven splits are supported when someone had rather more of it than the others.

Audited

Checked against the receipt

Items must reconcile with the printed subtotal, and the subtotal plus tax and tip must reach the printed total. A line that isn't really on the receipt gets caught this way.

Legible in a dim room

Built for the table

Tabular figures, clear hierarchy, one-handed and fast — this is a utility you reach for mid-dinner, not something to sit and study.

Requirements

What you need.

Full experience

iPhone 15 Pro or newer

Scanning and plain-English assignment use Apple Intelligence, which needs capable hardware and iOS 26.

Everything else

Any iPhone on iOS 26

On hardware that can't run the on-device models, Tabber falls back to manual entry: name the place, type the items, and the split math works identically.

Not required

An internet connection

The core flow makes no network calls at all. Tabber works in a basement restaurant with no signal exactly as well as anywhere else.
